Mississippi Native Plant Society
Contact Name:

Training Description:

The MS Native Plant Society offers two field trips this spring, led by our botanist Heather Sullivan. These trips are open to non-members as well. However, if you enjoy learning about our native plants, consider joining at an inexpensive individual rate of $10.

April 13th: Tishomingo State Park.

Meet at the Lodge in the park at 9 a.m. Trip lasts until we are all exhausted! There will be an entrance fee of $4 at the gate. This will be a trail hike through the sandstone outcrops along Bear Creek. The trail is rugged and will have many changes in elevation.  Members are encouraged to wear hiking boots or shoes with good ankle supports. Walking sticks are encouraged also. Hopefully, the native azaleas will be in bloom. Highlights might also include Wild Hyacinth (Camassia scilloides), Yellow Violet (Viola pubescens), Firepink (Silene virginica).
