Training Description:

What’s happening? We are excited to announce the second Mississippi Water Stewards Water Monitoring Certification Training opportunity which will be held in Biloxi, MS. Details about the training, what you can expect to learn, time commitment, specific dates, and how to enroll is in the attached flyer.

What makes this opportunity unique? For FREE, you will be trained via a hybrid online and in-person format in monitoring water according to EPA-certified methods. This means as a citizen, you will be collecting credible data, that can help to document long-term trends in your watershed, serve as an early indicator that more stringent monitoring may be needed to identify a problem, and serve as a leader to bring awareness to the importance of your local waterbody through outreach and education.

How can you use your water monitoring certification? Learn more about how the Pearl Riverkeeper organization using their water quality data and even see the data the group (Mississippi Water Stewards) has started to collect on the Water Rangers website.

When is this happening? Once enrolled, the online course(s) will be open July 5-18, 2021 for you to complete all online modules and the in-person training workshop will be July 24, 2021 from about 8am-2pm at the Coastal Research & Extension Center in Biloxi, MS.

How do I enroll? Check your calendar and be sure you can commit about 4 hours of time when the online course is open, and that you can attend the in-person workshop. For more details or to enroll, please contact Beth Baker at beth.baker@msstate.edu or 662-325-7491. SPACE IS LIMITED!
