It's that time of year again! The Nightjar Survey Network is looking for folks willing and able to survey for nightjars in an effort to obtain species distribution and abundance data.
Surveying for nightjars is simple and anyone with good hearing and access to a vehicle can participate.
Data is collected via roadside surveys on an evening of your choice during survey windows:
- Mississippi Survey Window - April 23rd and May 9th; then again from May 23rd to June 9th.
A standard survey route is 10 miles long with stops each mile where you will need to listen for nightjars for six minutes at each stop.
