Crane Tours at Mississippi Sandhill Crane National Wildlife Refuge
Start your new year off with a guided tour of Mississippi Sandhill Crane National Wildlife Refuge!
On a Crane Tour, visitors will join a guide for a two hour tour through the refuge in search of these elusive birds. Due to vehicle size, space on these tours is limited and reservations are required in advance. There are no fees for the program.
Guests will meet their guide at the Mississippi Sandhill Crane National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center at 9:00 a.m. the morning of the tour. We encourage participants to dress for the weather (layers are great!) and comfortable shoes that they don't mind getting a little dirty. Most of the tour will involve riding along in a refuge vehicle, but some walking over uneven ground and climbing into blinds may be necessary to see the birds.
Remember - the tours will be geared towards viewing the endangered cranes, but they are classified as extremely rare birds, so sightings are not guaranteed.
Upcoming Tour Dates: January 4, 11, 18, 21, 25, 28.
