Interested in learning what's in your backyard? Current Master Naturalists are invited to become one of our Urban Wildlife Camera Monitoring Project volunteers!
Our program studies the wildlife that inhabit different urban spaces around the Jackson Metro by placing remote-triggered cameras in 42 locations across central Mississippi. These cameras capture images of wildlife in parks, cemeteries, golf courses, school yards, and other greenspaces. Our volunteers help us set these cameras during observation seasons and identify species through imagery tagging.
